- Kato Pacific is a recipe design and production business established in 1992 by one of New Zealand's leading chefs, Russell Cowley. Kato was born from Russell's desire to develop a range of modern, full flavored products using his classic chef training.
- Established on the family property in the rolling hills of Ness Valley, Clevedon, New Zealand, Russell's first commercial recipe was his now famous char-grilled red peppers. Produced for supply to New Zealand's leading restaurants Kato soon became known for its innovative, quality products and Russell for his weekly deliveries in the family truck.

| Today Kato produces a wide range of premium foodstuffs including sauces, mayonnaise, pestos, chutneys & relishes, dressings, dips & spreads, and char-grilled vegetables, to name but a few and having outgrown the family property, Kato now resides in a modern and efficient production facility on the outskirts of Auckland.
In 2004 Kato was recognized for its contributions to the New Zealand industry by winning a Cuisine (New Zealand's leading cuisine magazine) award for innovation and excellence.
Kato remains 100% New Zealand owned and operated, still sourcing produce from those same trusted growers, and still as passionate as ever about delivering quality. But today the Kato range is found in supermarkets, airlines, restaurants and cafes in Australia, Singapore, UK, the United States and the Middle East.
